This Week at 8th Day: A Fortress, a Higher Rock, and Ten Good Reps
Every day this week we paired a Psalm with a piece of the game on Instagram and X. Here is the week in one place, in case a day slipped past you. The Psalms ran a clean ladder from 57 to 61, and every one of them was written by a man under real pressure who still chose to compete with his head up.
- Monday, Psalm 57. “My heart is steadfast.” David wrote it hiding in a cave, running for his life, and stayed steadfast anyway. That is the Monday reset. Last week is over. On the 8th day you start over.
- Tuesday, Psalm 58. “Surely there is a reward for the righteous.” We paired it with the One Knee Drill: back knee down, hands inside the ball, stay through it, finish high. Ten quality reps beat a hundred lazy ones.
- Wednesday, Psalm 59. “I will sing of your strength … you have been to me a fortress and a refuge.” Your own strength runs out. Under pressure, you learn to compete from the fortress, not from fear.
- Thursday, Psalm 60. “With God we shall do valiantly.” On the baseball side we talked travel ball, and the invoice that is not the work. The circuit reveals a player. The cage builds one. Reps over the resume.
- Friday, Psalm 61. “Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Game-day mindset for the weekend: do not shrink the moment, climb higher than it.
Five days, five Psalms, one message. Steady your heart in the quiet work, then go compete like you believe it. Heads up. Mind clear. Eyes forward. New week starts now.
