This Week at 8th Day: Nobody Claps for the Quiet Part
Seven days of posts, and the same idea kept surfacing without anyone planning it. The part of this game that actually builds a player is the part nobody is watching.
Here is the week.
- Monday, Psalm 106:13. They soon forgot his works. A mood is not a standard. Fired up is weather, and you do not need a new plan on Monday, you need to run the one you already proved when it gets boring.
- Tuesday, Psalm 107:29. He made the storm be still. Most hitters do not lose the at-bat on the swing, they lose it on the replay. Name the miss, replace it, reenter. Seven seconds, rehearsed in practice or it will not show up in a game.
- Wednesday, Psalm 108:1. My heart is steadfast. You do not owe yesterday a rematch. Eyes up, feet ready, that is the whole list.
- Thursday, Psalm 109:31. He stands at the right hand of the needy. One of our guys got better this fall without changing a thing about his swing. He changed his voice, and a kid responsible for somebody else’s reset stops drowning in his own.
- Friday, Psalm 110:3. They offer themselves freely. Nobody claps for the shirt you practice in. It still gets more innings than the jersey.
- Saturday. More swings is not a plan, it is just more swings. Test first, fix one thing, retest. Rest is not laziness, it is stewardship.
- Sunday, Hebrews 10:24. Consider how to stir up one another to love and good works. Praise what you want repeated. Kids grow toward the applause they trust.
Five Psalms and one letter, and they land in the same place. The loud parts of a season take care of themselves. The quiet parts are the ones you have to choose on purpose. On the 8th Day, you start over.
