This Week at 8th Day: Hope, Refuge, and a Trophy You Can’t Keep
Every day this week we paired a Psalm with a piece of the game on Instagram and X. Here is the whole week in one place, in case a day slipped past you. It walked a clean arc through Psalm 42 to 49, from hope when you feel cast down to a Sunday reminder of what actually lasts.
- Monday, Psalm 42:5. “Why are you cast down, O my soul? Hope in God.” The Monday reset. Clear the last at-bat, set your feet, begin again. On the 8th Day, you start over.
- Tuesday, Psalm 44:6. “Not in my bow do I trust, nor can my sword save me.” The drill was one-hand tee work. The bat will not save you. Trained hands, trusted to Him, will.
- Thursday, Psalm 46:1. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Be still. Your strength was settled before the first pitch was ever thrown.
- Friday, Psalm 47:1. “Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy.” Weekend hype. Joy is not the reward for winning. It is the fuel you compete on.
- Saturday. We looked at independent ball, the guys riding buses for one more look, and asked why they stay in the box. Love of the game. Reps over recognition. Work at it with all your heart, Colossians 3:23.
- Sunday, Psalm 49. The trophy you cannot keep. Play for the things that outlast the scoreboard.
That is the week. Hope on Monday, refuge on Thursday, joy on Friday, and a Sunday reminder of what you actually carry home. Heads up. Mind clear. Eyes forward.
